Waiting

I'm still in Beijing, waiting to catch a flight at 2:00.  So that means, hopefully i'll be at my final destination by 5 or 6.  I'll try to get some pictures once I get there.

Set...?

Let me just say...I HATE packing.  And how the heck do you pack for a year? Let alone a year in China?  Well...it isn't easy.  Especially since the 'suggested' packing list has things like "a year supply of deodorant"...I don't know how much deodorant I will need over the course of a year...

Anyways...I got most of my packing done today except for a few minor things.  One more day in America then I head off to Xinzheng, Henan, China.  That will be one LONG day.  I'll leave Greensboro at 6:00 a.m. and arrive at my final airport at 10:00 am (our time) the next day.  That's right....28 hours of travel.  This will be fun.  I've never experienced Jet Lag before...so this will be interesting.

Ready...?

I finally received my flight information and Visa yesterday, its really happening.  Up until now I was just going with it.  I knew that I would eventually have to pack up and be on my way, but now that it is a few days away, it is starting to sink in.  I will be in a foreign country for 11 months.  Don't get me wrong, I'm excited...but this is something completely different from my travels before.  Sure, I've been away from home before for extended periods of time.  But as my mom put it, "I could drive to you if I really wanted to".  Being away from home for an extended period of time and being away from home on a different continent are two completely different things.

Therefore, this blog was created.  Hopefully as a way to stay in touch with friends, family and others who might be interested in the happenings of this young adult and the adventures that will surely come about.
